During the summer months, December, January and February, there are many festivals going on. In the winter months from June to September, whales caring for their calves visit the east coast of Florianópolis, and this is a truly impressive thing to see. And this cooler part of the year is a great time to settle down culturally. It's the ideal time to head to one of the many quaint little villages that have stood the test of time resisting modernity and preserving the architecture, customs and original traditions . You can spend your time wandering the local markets in search of quirky souvenirs, take samba lessons or try to master the capoeira.

It is a small fishing village located at the mouth of a water channel that leads to the largest lagoon on the island, Lagoa da Conceição. Cheap and cozy hostels are the order of the day here, and there are also several reasonably priced markets to explore.

If you like peace and tranquility, the Mozambique beach it's ideal. Almost deserted, the water is clear green and the sea has good waves. The isolated beaches of Lagoinha do Leste, Matadeiro and Praia da Galheta are also a great option in this group.
