No Fun At All

This was the first time I went to see a band concert No Fun At All. I had never heard anything from them that I can remember, let alone know anything else about the band. However, I was informed by a friend who went with me to the show that the band was Swedish and that its members were already in their 40s, 50s. And when you get to john bull pub, in Lagoa da Conceição, I was disappointed thinking that few people would watch the show, mainly because it was on a Tuesday, at the beginning of the week; the house received between 200 and 300 people.

O No Fun At All is one of the bands that can be considered precursors of Californian melodic hardcore, which dictates the rhythm of the band. Founded in Sweden in the classic year of 1991, it was active until 2002, when after several changes of members, it decided to end activities. In 2004, the band returned to some world tours and continues to this day. It is currently formed by Kjell Ramstedt, on the battery, Christer Johansson, on guitar, Stefan Neumann, at the bottom, Ingemar Jansson, in the vocals and Mikael Danielsson, on guitar. He has already released 18 albums, including EPs, compilations, live and studio albums, among others, and the last on this list is Low RiderOf 2008.

While the house was filling up, the band Pike-Perch did the honors of receiving guests. Composed by Gabriel Zander, on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Adam, at the bottom, Gabriel Arbex, on guitar, Philippe Fargnoli, on guitar and backing, and Leonardo Mitchell, on drums, the quintet is the result of the sum of former members of bands known on the national scene, such as Dead Fish, Notion of Nothing, Reffer and Deluxe Trio. He was curious to know how Zander would behave on stage, despite already knowing the band's sound. I say it was a nice show, with the band well rehearsed and structured, whose songs, well played, reminded me of Noção de Nada, former band of singer Gabriel Zander.

A break and a few beers, new chords begin on the stage of Rock House. O No Fun At All took the stage around half past midnight, causing fans to crowd in front of the stage to get a closer look at the band's infectious sound. One thing I noticed was that I didn't know most of the people who were there, coming to the conclusion that the NFAA it was from a hardcore generation that I had little contact with. The audience there was older, different from other shows of the genre that I followed at the house, and they knew the songs played by the Swedes by heart. As in a good hardcore show, the mosh pit was in full swing, as were the stage dives, which did not stop happening. I watched the show, which lasted about two hours, from afar, never being part of the gargle group at any time.

My conclusion was that the No Fun At All fulfilled his end of the bargain, and like the audience, he was part of a great show. I enjoyed getting to know the sound of the band, which interacted in a friendly way with the audience, who did not fight at any time and did not cause any event that could have harmed the show. O john bull pub, I can also say, fulfilled its part, being perfect in its service and facilities. Cold beer, clean bathrooms and helpful staff. I leave here my thanks to the house for the credential given.
