marking the world cleaning day - global action that promotes care for cities, neighborhoods, beaches, squares and parks -, the project Cleanliness of the Seas, initiative by Brazilian Nautical Association (Acatmar), collected 2,5 tons of waste in the east of Florianópolis Island. Last Saturday (19), around 80 volunteers, including divers, boat owners and the community, gathered at Lagoa da Conceição and at the entrance to the Barra da Lagoa channel.

“We have fulfilled our objective of cleaning the waters and alerting the population about these improper discharges” - celebrates Michele Castilho, director of Tourism of the entity.

Due to the pandemic and the sanitary rules, the stage was different from the previous ones: the volunteers participated with their boats, but they also acted in the surroundings of the Lagoa, without larger agglomerations.

Alexandre Lopes Vianna, captain of the ports of Santa Catarina, praised the activity: “The Brazilian Navy could not fail to be at the side of ACATMAR in this initiative. In addition to ensuring navigation safety, our mission is also to educate the population about preservation”.

Sponsor of the event, Fort Atacadista also took part in the action, part of its social responsibility arm. Leandro Homerding, the company's regional marketing manager, explains the choice of support: “We are very present on the coast and we are proud to be part of the cause”, points.
